sakura_daikonSoooo...I intended to translate this for Valentines day, but that obviously didn't happen :P This is from the Non-No's Sep.2012 issue, and the theme's given by Nino! (Kaze trio gives such great prompts for Yama)
O: It's been a while since I've gone to a family restaurant.
S: Me too! The menu is not only nostalgic, but it also has modern, multinational dishes and herb tea. I'm really excited. When I was a child, my family would occasionally come to family restaurants. You know how there'd be toys for sale near the cash register? I remember how I'd keep looking at them and wonder how I should ask my parents to buy them for me XD
O: I know~! When my parents were paying the bill, I also kept staring at the toys. XD But most of the time we left without any purchase.
S: Same here same here! I recall after I started working, right before a test for university, I would study with some friends. During the (drama) "Kisarazu Cat's Eye", after the location shooting everyone would gather together at a store in the metropolitan area. There'd always be like around 10 people, staying until morning. Well, there were also many times where we talked so much that we ended up not studying much XD.
O: During my junior period, after my first feature in the news ever in my life, the president brought me to a family restaurant. (A/N: president = Johnny)
S: Wow~ Now that you mention it, I feel like I've heard this several times from other people too.
O: Could be the president's plan. He called the whole crew not to discuss about work, but just to let them eat what they like.
S: Now that I think about it, Arashi's very first location shooting for variety show was at a family restaurant, right? I remember it even now, because starting that instance it was only the five of us without our seniors...(serious look) In short, it's not really an exaggeration if we say we were "born at a family restaurant"!
O: For sure, that's right (smiling).
S: What is Satoshi-kun's standard dish?
O: Sauteed spinach! (immediate reply)
S: That was also your first order today, right?
O: Yep, I want to order that for sure. When I'm hungry, I'll eat it as a sub-menu. When I'm not hungry, I'll eat it as snack to go with alcohol. (strong tone)
S: You really like it that much. XD For me, it's french toast. Now that I think about it, it's pretty high cholesterol, but during my student years I ate it as midnight snack. The drink bar also took care of us, and I think the girls who make the tea were happy with the system. If Arashi came to eat breakfast...
O: Wouldn't Nino order hamburger? I wanna see how he gets indecisive choosing from all the flavors!
S: Matsujun is pasta, Aiba-kun is probably mapo-tofu XD It's nice that it'd be OK to have both eastern and western food in the mix.
O: Because that's the charm of a family restaurant is it's abundant menu.
S: Oo~, I see! That was Riida's "family restaurant word of wisdom" XD ♪

大野「ファミレス、久しぶりに来たなぁ。」
櫻井「オレも！昔から変わらない懐かしいメニューもあれば、今っぽいおしゃれな多国籍料理やハーブティーもあって、気分がアガった。子供の頃は、時々家族で来てたっけ。ファミレスって、レジの近くにおもちゃが置いてあるじゃん。あのラインナップがハンパなく素敵に見えて、どうプレゼンすれば買ってもらえるか、一生懸命考えてた記憶がある。（笑）」
大野「分かる～！オレも親が会計してる間、じーっと見てたもん。（笑）でも、だいたい買ってもらえずに終わるの。」
櫻井「一緒一緒！仕事を始めてからの思い出といえば、大学のテスト前に学部の友達と勉強したこと。（ドラマ）『木更津キャッツアイ』の撮影をしてた頃は、木更津ロケが終わってからみんなが集まってくる都内のお店に直行して。当時は、10人くらいで朝までやるのがいつものパターンだった。ま、しゃべっちゃて勉強にならないことも多かったけど（笑）。」
大野「オレは、ジュニア時代、生まれて初めての取材の後に社長に連れてってもらったのがファミレスだったんだよね。」
櫻井「へぇ～。そういえば、そういう話、ほかの人からも何度か聞いた気がする。」
大野「社長の方針なのかもね。特に仕事の話があるわけじゃないんだけど、全員を呼んで好きなものを食べさせてくれた。」
櫻井「思い起こせば、嵐の初めてのバラエティーロケの現場もファミレスだったよね。先輩たちのいない5人だけのシチュエーションが始まった瞬間だから、今でもよく覚えてる。・・・（真顔で）つまり、オレたち｛ファミレスで生まれた｝って言っても過言ではないわけですよ！」
大野「ホント、その通りだね（にっこり）。」
櫻井「智くんの定番メニューって何？」
大野「ほうれんそうのソテー（即答）！」
櫻井「今日も一番に注文してたもんね。」
大野「うん、あれは絶対頼んじゃう。お腹がすいてる時はサブメニューとして、すいてないときはおつまみとして。（力強く）」
櫻井「そんなに好きだったんだ（笑）。オレが名作だと思うのは、フレンチトースト。今思うとハイカロリーだけど、学生時代は夜食感覚で食べてたよ。ドリンクバーにも相当お世話になった。あのシステム、ずっとお茶していたい女の子たちには嬉しいだろうね。嵐でファミレスに来て、ごはんを食べるとしたら・・・。」
大野「ニノはハンバーグじゃない？どの味にするか迷うところが見たい！」
櫻井「マツジュンはパスタ、相葉くんは麻婆豆腐かな（笑）。和洋中、食べたいものがバラバラでもOKだからいいよね。」
