2010 OCTOBER & DECEMBER: MAGAZINE (MONTHLY TV) - "JAWS"

Deepest gratitude to toumei for the warming up post (you have no idea how much I appreciate it, babe! *hugs*); and now onto the full-length post for:

SATOSHI OHNO'S 32nd BIRTHDAY!!!
 

What better way to celebrate than to post something related to what he likes? Okay, I'm being generous here, so I'm combining two things that he likes a lot, brought to you by the letter 'F':

FISH and Sho's FACE (I'm not kidding on this one, y'all XD)

Alright, dramatic intro aside; on the October issue of Monthly TV in 2010, both Ohno and Sho were being paired in the regular Arashi segment called 'Gekkan Arashi'. Each month, the chosen pair will get to do something related to theme that was decided based on shiritori; in which the theme begins with the final kana of the theme from previous issue. This time for issue No.092, since the previous theme was "バッジ" (Badge), they decided to do the theme on "ジョーズ"(JAWS).

櫻井：　バッジからの「じ」を受けていろいろ考えたわけですよ。ジュース作り、ジーコと対談とか（笑）。
大野：　相葉ちゃんが、ジーパンがいいんじゃない？って。
櫻井：　そう。しりとりを終わらせようとしたんだよね。終わっちゃうよ、って智くんがツッコんでるのに、分かってなくて、「何が？」って言ってたな（笑）。で、水族館は癒されるよねぇって話になって。
大野：　水族館は間違いない。
櫻井：　ジョーズを糸口に何とか水族館に行けないかな～と。でも、そんなに甘くなかったな。
大野：　取材日が夏休み中の土曜日とぶつかっちゃったんだよね～
櫻井：　ジョーズをみにいけなかったら、呼ぶって（笑）。マイケル．ジャクソン並みの展開だったよ！
大野：　まさか、自分たちで水族館作ることになるなんて、ね！
櫻井：　こんな水族館がウチにあったら、マジいいなぁ～（うっとり）。
大野：　（だまって首を横に振る）　掃除もちゃんとしない人が水槽なんて置いたら、より掃除しなくなるし、魚が死んじゃう～。以上！
櫻井：　アハハハ（笑）。さっきからそう言って許してくんないんだよ。
大野：　この間、マグロ釣りにいったら、一緒に行った人がイタチザメをかけちゃってさ。マグロ用のルアーを傷付けないように、とりあえず船にサメをあげたのよ。すごい暴れて。うわぁ～、って逃げたよ！！
櫻井：　リアルジョーズだ。
大野：　口に気を付けろー！って。
櫻井：　そりゃそうだ（笑）。
大野：　小さくてもサメは怖い。
櫻井：　智くんは魚の扱い慣れてて、さすがと思ったよ。つかむとき、頭としっぽを押さえ込むあたり。
大野：　いや～。ちっちゃくてもやっぱサメだよね。パワーがすごかった。
櫻井：　肉食の目してたよ。でもさ、水槽作りのとき、石をタテに置くという智くんの発想の豊かさには驚きましたよ。サメ以外では、オレはハコフグがかわいくてお気に入り。
大野：　オレはハリセンボン。口がちょっと笑ってる感じでかわいいの。
櫻井：　結果的には、夏らしい清涼感を味わえたいい企画だったね。
大野：　次は…ず、か。ず、ず、ず、す。　ず、ってあんまないね！？
櫻井：　図画工作？ズッキーニ！？

S: Taking 'Ji' from the word 'Badge'(Baj-ji); we have considered a lot of things. Such as making juice or discussion about ZICO XD.
O: Aiba-chan suggested, "Jeans (Jii-pan) would be good too, don't you think?"
S: Yeah. He was trying to end the 'shiritori', right? [t/n: in shiritori, it's the end of the game if the chosen word ended with the kana 'n'(ん)]  Even though Satoshi-kun retorted back saying, "It will be the end (if we uses that word), yo.", he (Aiba) still didn't get it, asking back, "What is?" XD. Then we started talking of how aquarium can be quite healing.
O: Aquarium is the best choice, no doubt.
S: Using 'JAWS' as the clue we wondered if we could visit the aquarium. But it didn't turn out to be so easy.
O: The day for this interview clashes with the Saturday during summer break, right?
S: They told us, if we can't go to see JAWS, then they'll get it to us instead XD. We've reached to the same level as Michael Jackson!
O: It didn't cross our mind that we're going to make the aquarium by ourselves!
S: If I can have such aquarium at home, it will be totally awesome. *appearing blissful*
O: (Silently shaking his head) For someone who doesn't even clean up properly, having a fish tank will only make it harder to clean, the fishes will die. I rest my case~!
S: AHAHAHA. He's been saying that since earlier; he just wouldn't let me.
O: The other day, I went to fish for tuna; the guy who went with me accidentally caught a tiger shark. In order not to damage the lure that was meant for tuna-fishing, we decided to pull the shark up onto the boat. It was acting so violently. The next thing we realized, it escaped!!
S: That's what I call real JAWS.
O: We screamed, "WATCH THE MOUTH!"
S: Obviously XD.
O: However small it may be, sharks are scary.
S: Satoshi-kun is so adept at handling the fishes, it was expected of you. Like when you were catching it, you held on to its head and tail.
O: Well... however tiny it is, it's still a shark. Its power is amazing.
S: It's obviously a carnivore. But while we were decorating the fish tank, I was astonished by the abundance of Satoshi-kun's (artistic) expressions when you placed the rock vertically. Aside from the shark, my favorite is the box fish because it looked adorable.
O: As for me, it's the porcupine fish. Its mouth looked like it was smiling a bit, so cute.
S: Looking at the result, this was a good project which allowed us to experience a summer-like refreshing feeling.
O: The next (starting kana for the theme) would be... Zu, isn't it? Zu, Zu, Zu, Zu. There's hardly anything starting with 'Zu', is there?
S: Drawing and manual arts (Zugakousaku)? Zucchini?!

Bottom: Sakurai staring fixedly at his favorite boxfish. For some reason, they're guarding the fish by enveloping the fish together with their hands.

The two of them were rooted on the spot staring at the boxfish biting at its meal.









 










Left:  Red sea-slug. As expected, even the two of them were wearing such complicated expression on their face.

Right:  Ohno gazing fixedly at the porcupine fish that was hidden in between the rock. Somehow he appeared so delighted.

Ohno, who has such a deep interest in all kinds of fishes; observes it quietly.

ORIGINAL AQUARIUM: Let's Make Our Own!

 









Creating fish tank.

First, we start by spreading the sand on the bottom of the tank. Sakurai is working hard on it all by himself!




 



Sakurai who notices Ohno simply daydreaming without doing anything at the side.

Even when stared at venomously, Ohno still doesn't budge an inch XD.

Once the sand had been spread, the next thing to do is to decorate the tank with rocks and corals.

Usually these are arranged by laying them horizontally; but Ohno the Artist placed it vertically, right smack in the middle!

The rocks are steadily being set up.

The (main) rock that had been placed vertically is being fixed at its sides so it wouldn't collapse.

The personalized fish tank is almost done!












Once the placement of the rocks are done, pick whichever fish you'd like and put it into the fish tank.

This is somehow challenging due to the fishes' quick movement.







 




Ohno's favorite, the porcupine fish.

Staring fixedly at it, once again he appeared delightful.

The main event in this project: "Capturing Jaws".

Look at Sakurai's expression!

Although it's small, the shark is sharp!




















Ohno, on the other hand, was smiling.

He caught the shark so easily. 

Sakurai stated, "Satoshi-kun is the Sakana-kun in Arashi."

Bonus (taken from the December issue of the same year):
The readers were asked to vote for their their favorite project for Arashi's 10th year anniversary, which they wished to be carried out again. Unfortunately, this "JAWS" project wasn't even listed in the Top 20. Ohno was given the chance to view the list with Jun when they were present for their project, and this was how he reacted when he realized the 'absence':

 

大野： ジョーズも入ってないぃ～（泣）
残念でした。ジョーズの回が、よほど気に入てるんですね。
大野： 翔くんが苦手ものを嫌がる姿を見るのが好きなんだよ～（笑）。翔くんを一度釣りに連れてって、デカイサメを釣りたいんだよな。本気でビビルぞ～。そんときの翔くんの顔が見たいの！！

O:  Aww... "JAWS" wasn't even included~ *cries*
TVMonthly:  What a shame. You really like the 'JAWS' episode, it seems.
O:  I really love watching Sho-kun when he's showing his dislike to things that he doesn't handle very well (i.e: scared of) XD. I wanna bring Sho-kun to fish one time, and catch a really huge shark. I'm sure he'll be scared out of his wits~ I wanna see Sho-kun's face when that happens!!


T/n: Hmmm... and we wonder why they still haven't gone fishing in private after all these while xD.
