2005.01.22: Radioshow (SHO BEAT) - "When was the start of 'Satoshi-kun'?"
Following previous post regarding Sho calling Ohno as 'Satoshi-kun'; I'm sure many of us are curious about when exactly did it start? I have heard the audio recording since a while ago; but I didn't know where it was taken from and when. Just yesterday I finally found the answer, so I'd like to share this.
Sho was answering a listener's mail asking him about how he spent his time when he was performing West Side Story in Osaka, so this is the snippet of his answer:
After the shows over for the day, I returned to the hotel and had my meals there.
And mainly I spent a lot of time with Ohno-kun.
I also share dressing room with Ohno-kun, so somehow in the one month, I've become more chummy with our Leader Ohno-kun;
Matsujun as 'Nardo', which is actually Bernardo's petname, so I called Matsujun as 'Nardo', but before I knew it I was already calling Ohno-kun as 'Satoshi-kun' XD.
And then, mainly I have my meals in the room with Ohno-kun... when was it again?
There was one time after we had our meals, Ohno-kun fell asleep on the floor, he did.
And so the next performance day his body was aching so it was really hard for him,
Somehow when the make-up removed and we eat our meals, we'll fall asleep just like that;
So we decided to request not to have (our) make-up removed, which means the two of us, Ohno-kun and I in the hotel room;
still with Tony and Riff's 'make-up' on, together eating our meals for how many hours,
After (the play) is over; I had to remain there another day for magazine interview and went to Universal Studios Japan with my manager, it was really fun."
Sho was answering a listener's mail asking him about how he spent his time when he was performing West Side Story in Osaka, so this is the snippet of his answer:
"I spent most of my time in Osaka at the hotel.

I actually thought it would've been earlier than that. But since this is WWS, then it's highly possible the kaze trio did end up surprised. Ohno/Sho/Jun left for WWS being their normal selves, by the time they came back Ohno and Sho were already on the Satoshi-kun level.
Didn't Sho mention that a common topic between them was also his brother? XD So Ohno feels like a family friend as well?

What was interesting that despite that Ohno, Sho & Jun starred together in that play; Jun was 'separated' from yamapair due to his role as the antagonist while the director told Ohno and Sho to share dressing rooms throughout. They really do go back and reminisce those times once in a while, so that particular period has been special for me.
Yeah, Sho's brother is apparently Ohno's fan; and guessing by Sho's story on how his whole family were glued on Maou when it aired... I think all Sakurai's family members are also Ohno's fan.
Family friend; yup, I'd like to think it that way too.

Now I miss Sho's radio show. It seems that the guys are more open in their radio shows than on TV, imho. Especially when they were younger XD Fame has its price. Now they're more careful about what to say and just how much to let loose.

I have firm belief that Sho's mom... like the rest of the world, loves to push his button because it's so tempting xD. I think there were several times when the members were teasing about his endless bickers with his mom; regarding srsly trivial matters. Then there's this one time when they stay at one hotel and his mom told him to sleep on the same bed with her; and he ws probably ard 25 at the time? Talk abt messing with yr son's head xD.
Lolz at all the "that moment..." it would be funny if his mom was trying to get him to 'react' in this manner. I'm reminded of when Sho sent an email to Ohno that his mom is passing through the filming location for Maou and Ohno asked the staffs to search for her but failed? I thought it was adorable.
Yeah... Sho used to share a lot of gems in his radioshows. I was very happy when they were doing those special radioshows for the 311 disaster area because there's still interesting stuffs he supplied there. And there's something about how differently he sounded throughout the years. Tone of voice and speech style.

It's really cute how he's putting so much emphasis about Ohno in half of his answer even if the actual question doesn't really need him to do so. And to have him specifically mention about the name-calling change (even if he still uses 'Ohno-kun' everywhere else; goes to show that at the time he was still warming up to using it) <3
Thanks for reading and commenting! *hugs*

they often spent time together and then sho unconsciously started calling him satoshi, naruhodo XD
I read good stuffs today
thank you so much ♥♥♥

They were practically instructed by the director to spend time together for character-building? xD
I always thought it's funny because it seemed that they were giving more emphasis abt Tony and Riff's relationship than Tony and Maria's, haha.

i always wonder when Sho start calling him as Satoshi-kun until now xD
so this is how it really begin the start of their precious Datoshi-kun xD
only close friend or family member call him Satoshi so Sho have always been special to Ohno the same with Ohno to Sho.
even Sho family love Ohno xD
im so glad that time Sho and Ohno get to spend lot of time together and make them even more cummy and very close until now<3

I hope for some new projects that get them working together like this once again :D
thanks for reading and commenting~

omg so cute those two without removing their make-ups , having meals together XDDDD
they were so close to each other since chibis, they used to hug a lot too right, which was then, became a habit XDDD
If I'm not mistaken, it was 1 year after debuting, on 2000, Arashi members except Nino had chances going to New York. Nino couldn't go because there were only 4 tickets reserved, and he lost in janken (poor guy XD)
Yama hugged each other when they won the janken~ I was kyaaaaaing and repeating the scene over and over~ ♥

Deciding not to remove make-ups just so that they won't fell asleep after meals; seriously they were such kids! xD
Yeah, I remembered actually buying a VCD of that particular show when I just turned into their fan; when they followed Shounentai's Nikki-san to New York. Somehow I think that they had staged the janken part; because Nino wouldn't be able to follow them anyways because of the project that he might have taken up around that time. But I especially loved that Ohno and Sho get to shop for omiyage together <3
Now you make me wanna go and find that video to rewatch xD

This'll keep my mind on Yama mode again for the rest of the day. These two's got my muses hostaged pretty bad. Not that I'm complaining xD (I probably should, but it's too much effort -LOL-)
Thanks so much for this wonderful bit of Yama history. *hugs*

Yay on having u in 'yama mode'~
Really sorry that they got yr muses hostaged though. I hope this will somehow spark an idea for you to write more? *winks*
Glad to share it with you; thank u so much for reading and commenting *hugs*

Like, when I think about writing an original fic, I'd wake up the next day thinking I'd probably just turn it to Yama.
I am hopeless, and hardly sorry for it. xDDD ~<3
Not really sure if I have (or haven't) read about it before, but now I'm curious about when it became Sho-chan for Ohno?
no subject
Hmm... regarding the 'Sho-chan' calling; and I actually rummaged through the logs of gmail convos I had with my friends (yeah, we're that obsessed about the name-calling) and I reckon that the change started around 2011?
At first I think we spotted "Sho-chan" by Ohno on magazine interviews, radioshow and even during the Wakuwaku show (when he said his gratitude to Sho was one of the things we had mentioned specifically in the convo logs xD); but we were always like: "Hey, am I reading/hearing this right? Is this typo? Why he never said it on tv?"
Till... if I'm not mistaken in VSA when Sho played against Arashi with NazoDi Team in Dual Curling; which was when I positively sure I first heard Ohno said "Sho-chan" and I think there was no going back from then on xD. At first he sounded like he had to sneak that in and it always felt like it ended too short at the '-chan', but gradually he became more comfortable with it.
But seriously, this has been one of the things that still boggles my mind, and I truly am curious as to why he changed from "Sho-kun" to "Sho-chan"

But it does make one wonder, ne... Hm...
This reminds me, on the May 2 episode of VS Arashi, Ohno referred to Sho as Sho-SAN, I think. Was it because there were kids in the challenging team? Do they call each other differently when the cameras aren't rolling? Because I've read recent interview translations where Sho refers to Ohno as Satoshi-kun, but he calls him Ohno-san on TV all the same. Don't they get confused that way? XD ~<3
